I Voted

I voted today in Virginia Beach on a Diebold electronic touchscreen machine.  They said my precinct will be all electronic next year.  There was only one machine this year for adventurous citizens like me.  It was pretty simple to use.  After checking me in, it only took them one second to encrypt and issue me [...]

NegaTV Ads

In my home state of Virginia this year there is an election for a new governor.  Since election day is only about a week away, the negative TV, radio, and mail ads have been incessant lately and are driving me insane.  They are such a pollution of the media and such gross misrepresentation of what [...]

My friend Andy Duffy from New Orleans managed to get to a computer this morning to tell his friends how he and his family are doing:
"Yes, we’re all fine–first to Houston and now in western NC.  We’re all
pissed at the incompetence of FEMA to respond to the poorest of the
poor left behind in the city [...]

Gas Price Liftoff

I imagine I was one of the lucky few people in my area today to get gas for under $3.00.  I bought 18.5 gallons for $2.99 this evening and while I was filling up, the station attendant was changing the price to $3.07.  Another station I went to earlier was priced at $3.10 and they [...]

The best thing about the city of New Orleans, Louisiana has always been the people.  They are unpretentious, kind and they have always welcomed visitors with open arms to experience their flavor of American culture.  That’s why it’s so devastating to see them displaced and traumatized by the recent effects of Hurricane Katrina.
Some things I’ve [...]

A couple days ago the NCAA sent a letter to FSU president T. K. Wetherell with the news that Florida State has been removed from the list of schools with "hostile" nicknames.  I guess they finally got the message through Wetherell’s lawsuits that the Seminole tribe of Florida has been and continues to be in [...]

iBook Riot

Some dude is selling these on eBay the day after the infamous Henrico County riot.  Gotta love it!

It looks like the only thing that can bring Democrats and Republicans together in the state of Florida is FSU.  I too support my alma mater…the only way we should change the nickname is if the United States Supreme Court says we must.  Until then, you can count on the Seminoles putting up a fight [...]

Popey Pope

Like my cousin Hillary, I was somewhat saddened by the Pope’s passing a couple days ago even though I have never felt any sort of religious connection to him.  The Pope seemed like a really good guy.  I hope the next Pope is every bit as Popey as Pope John Paul II.  Yes, I made [...]

The Virginia Senate has recently passed voted on a law forbidding minors to talk on cell phones while driving.  This includes the use of handsfree headsets.  I sure do hope our non-techie lawmakers know to include text-messaging in the bill.  Hunting and pecking at 65mph is risky business too.  (via Engadget)
