The Postal Service, aka Ben Gibbard and Jimmy Tamborello, are working on a follow-up to their 2003 album "Give Up" on Sub-Pop records.  So far, they’re got two songs recorded, but will be working on more after Death Cab for Cutie’s summer tour winds down.  I can’t wait for this!

Either you think this is the greatest Bat Mitzvah party ever…or you think that this Jewish American Princess and her dad are busy creating a whole new level of stereotype for us Jews to overcome.  These Long Islanders are out of their minds…and we all know that the question of someone trying to top this [...]

Pharrell Delayed

I have no idea why, but Pharrell’s new album release has been delayed from November 15th to December 15th.

Was Kurt Cobain Murdered?

I would not be the person I am today had it not been for Nirvana.  I don’t think that there is any other band or musician about whom I can make the same statement.
For such a big fan, how did I not hear about the huge controversy surrounding Kurt Cobain’s death until a few days [...]

He’s not a businessman, he’s a business, man.
Pharrell’s new website pharrellwilliams.com is coming soon along with his first solo album due out November 15th entitled In My Mind.  Pharrell will be taking on a new alter ego called "Skateboard P."  I guess it’s his new rapper nickname, since the new album is supposed to be [...]

I saw Matisyahu perform last week at The Jewish Mother in Virginia Beach.  He was great.  It’s hard for anyone to take this guy seriously when they first see him.  It’s equally difficult to not take him seriously after you’ve seen him perform for all of a minute.  I was only a couple feet away [...]

There is something miraculous that happens when you discover a musician you really like.  When the artist really strikes a chord with you, it becomes difficult to find a song that you dislike.  Rather than fall in love with a specific track, beat, or harmony, all of the songs meld into one greater work of [...]

The current business model for the distribution of music over the Internet is not working.  Even with the convenience of services like Apple’s iTunes Music Store and songs priced at 99 cents each, people are flocking to file-sharing services to swap tunes for free.  Sandy Pearlman, former producer for The Clash and current scholar at [...]

To Dis or Not to Dis?

I’ve never been a big fan of 50 Cent.  It’s not because he’s a gangster rapper.  I used to really like Ice Cube in college and he was much rougher with his lyrics than 50 Cent.  For me, it simply comes down to his rapping style.  He doesn’t do it for me.  I’m much more [...]

The Pharrell Machine

Pharrell Williams, my hero local boy who has swept the world with his musical prowess and style, was apparently back in town recently.  The Daily Press reports that he has a new business venture going on in Norfolk.  I can’t wait to stop by and check out the place.
